Mercer County Docket Courts

Princeton Municipal Court Dockets

The city page states courthouse hours as 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except official holidays and declared disasters or emergency situations. Princeton's procedure page also states that phones must be turned off, photography and audio recordings are prohibited, no food or drink is allowed in the courtroom, and proper attire is required. A docket is the case log. The full record is the file behind the log. Read Mercer County Dockets
Start with the case caption and case type, then read the entries by date. In a criminal case, an early entry may show a complaint, information, warrant, bond, arraignment, counsel entry, motion, plea, disposition, or sentence. In a civil case, the docket may show petition, service, answer, motion, hearing, judgment, garnishment, or satisfaction entries. Probate dockets can show application, letters, inventory, claims, settlements, orders, and closing activity.
Do not treat every charge or claim on a docket as a final result. A charge can be amended, dismissed, reduced, or end in a conviction. A civil claim can be dismissed without prejudice, which may allow refiling, or dismissed with prejudice, which bars refiling of the same claim. A traffic docket can show a payable citation, a not-guilty setting, a payment, or a failure-to-appear entry.
Note: A docket entry can be public even when the document behind it is sealed, redacted, or available only through the clerk.
